Rs40,000 Minimum Wage Proposed in Sindh with 8.1% Increase
The Sindh Minimum Wages Board has proposed to raise the minimum monthly salary by RS 3,000 – from RS 37,000 to RS 40,000- for various types of workers across the province. Based on this proposal, an 8.1% increase in the wages of workers has been suggested.
This wage increase proposal will apply to unskilled adults, adolescents, semi-skilled and highly skilled workers. Starting from July 1, 2025, this new wage matrix will be effective across 60 sectors in Sindh.
Based on this proposal, the new minimum wage for semi-skilled workers is set at RS 41,280, for skilled workers, RS 48,910 and for highly skilled workers, RS 50,868. Basically, these are minimum rates. There is no maximum limit. Employers cannot reduce wages that are already higher than the proposed amounts.
Given that there is no maximum limit, employers can choose to pay higher wages based on several other parameters, such as the experience of a worker, local living costs, etc. It can be done individually or through agreements.
Earlier, the federal government announced a 10% salary increase for its employees, including those who are in the armed forces and the civil armed forces. A 10% rise in pensions has also been approved in the 2025-26 budget.
