Summer Vacations in Punjab 2025 Extended Until August 31.
Summer vacations have been extended in the province of Punjab. The Punjab government has extended summer vacations for all public and private schools across the province. Schools will remain closed till 31st August and regular classes will commence on September 1 instead of August 14, as earlier announced. An official notification has been shared by the School Education Department on Wednesday regarding this update.
According to this notification, all district education authorities have been informed to follow the new schedule. The extension of summer vacation is likely due to the ongoing extreme weather in the province. This is the second time that the summer vacation schedule has been changed. Parents, students and school staff are advised to note the new reopening date and update their plans accordingly.
Punjab School Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat also shared the update on Twitter, saying, “Schools in Punjab will be opened from Sept 1.”
However, this decision was not welcomed by private school associations. The All Pakistan Private School Associations (APPSA) rejected this extension during the summer vacation and warned that more delays could badly affect the academic calendar.
The president of the All Pakistan Private School Association said, “If the holidays are extended further, the teaching system will be badly affected.” Representatives of the associations also said that the weather had improved and there were no political issues, so there was no reason to keep schools closed. They also urged the government to rethink the decision and reopen schools on time to prevent more delays in students’ education.
