Education

Education Is a Matter of Life and Death for Pakistan – Quaid-e-Azam

Education is considered the backbone of a civilized society. It equips people with knowledge, skills, values and logic, enabling them to distinguish right from wrong and reason from rumor. Simply, education shapes minds, enables people to challenge lawlessness and immorality and prepare them to solve problems, adapt to change and unleash progress in a sustainable way.

Basically, education is a means to nurture critical thinking, creativity and innovation. Quaid-e-Azam, founder of Pakistan, declared that education is a matter of life and death for the country. Through this, our Quaid gave us a roadmap to success and prosperity because nations can survive economic problems and political turmoil but without education, their foundations can collapse like a house of cards.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela

So, education is not all about informing minds but it is also about transforming lives and societies. It makes people aware of their moral values, their rights and duties and also induces a sense of responsibility. An educated mind does not hesitate to question injustice and outdated beliefs and it also imagines a better future, finds ways and strives to make it happen.

Albert Einstein also said, “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” Critical thinking is a byproduct of education and a rational mind does not follow any idea, belief and system blindly because it has the capacity to analyze a concept without getting emotional and make reasoned judgments.

Societies that educate themselves remain ahead in every aspect of life. Humans who remained connected to education and learning have developed advanced tools and explored scientific knowledge. They have transformed life on earth and have provided humans with comfort that they have never imagined.

Despite the vision of our Quaid, sadly, Pakistan’s education sector remains troubled. Millions of children are out of school, literacy rates lag behind regional peers and also quality remains uneven. Because of poverty, unemployment and economic challenges, people prioritize survival over schooling and the lack of education is further fueling poverty.

The state of Pakistan needs to invest in education to overcome political and socio-economic challenges and bring growth and prosperity. Pakistani people are talented and zealous and if they are trained properly, they can turn the struggling nation into a thriving one.

Today, on Quaid-e-Azam’s birthday, we need to remember his vision and sacrifices that created Pakistan. It is a day to not only celebrate the birth of our great leader but also renew our commitment to building a strong, prosperous and educated Pakistan. Indeed, this day is a reminder for all of us to prioritize education and innovation and contribute in our capacities to make Pakistan a beacon of hope and progress.
